The
unique multifloor tissue culture flasks are built with one or two floors,
expanding the growth surface of a standard 150cm2 flask to 285cm2 or 420cm2
respectively. These new flasks are particularly suitable for the cultivation of
large quantities of adhesive cells. Cell detachment is obtained via a standard
enzymatic process. Each floor includes 3 rows of 3 slots which ensures an
adequate medium flowing over all cell surfaces and also guarantees appropriate
gas exchange through the media. |
|
| The floor slots, along with the double counter-slope design under each floor
of the flask, aid in exhausting air bubbles that occur during filling. In the
two-floor flask, the rows of slots in each floor are designed to be
non-vertically aligned with each other to allow cells suspended in the media
during the seeding phase to lay in a homogeneous way to each cell culture
surface. To aid in locating cells during microscopic examination, each floor
includes transversal graduation lines which divide the surface into 12 areas.
Each floor carries an engraved digit (1 or 2) corresponding to that floor at the
crossing point. |

Tissue Culturists are well familiar with the tedium and monotony of working
with dozens if not sometimes hundreds of dishes and flasks. Tissue Culture work
is often exponential by nature as the number of passages climbs while starting
new cell lines or amplifying stocks for cryogenic storage. Labs doing
E1-deficient adenovirus or AAV production must do incredibly large scale tissue
cultures and often the researcher becomes completely dedicated just to the
tissue culture phase of the project for weeks until the cells are ready for
transfection with the cassettes. Besides the incredible time and labor
investment, the costs associated with usage of media, serum, and especially
plastics are very significant in such projects. The chance for contamination
also increases exponentially as the number of dishes and flasks multiply.

Beneficial Features of the TPP Multi-Floor Flasks
Media Saving: Less media is required due to its unique floor concept and
design.
Space Saving: One TPP Multifloor flask can replace up to 3 standard 150cm2
flasks.
Cost Effective: Save both money and time by using less flasks.
Environmentally Friendly: Reduced amount of plastic waste.
Optically clear surfaces allow for microscopic examination of each floor.
Filtered screw cap contains a 0.22µm microporous hydrophobic membrane.
Package contents are guaranteed sterile by gamma-irradiation. |
