Recommended Use
Provides saturated phenol at a pH of 6.6 ± 0.1 for use in typical DNA purification.
Included is a bottle of buffer for DNA applications that require a higher pH of 8.0 + 0.1.
If your application does require the addition of this buffer, and the entire contents of
the buffer (6.5 mL) to the saturated phenol stock. To use, allow the phases to separate
and then add the appropriate amount of buffer saturated phenol to your DNA sample.
Example: To purify 400mL of sample, add 400 mL of Buffer Saturated Phenol.
Storage
Phenol is prepared from ultra-pure, phenol double-distilled under dry, inert gas. This
material is then saturated completely, and extra buffer is added an overlay to maintain
saturation. The product is packaged under dry, inert gas for maximum stability and will
remain stable for 1 year from the date of purchase, when stored unopened at 4oC. After
opening, store at 4oC and keep tightly sealed.
