Recommended Use
Used as a denaturant in hybridization and electrophoresis applications.
Storage
Spectral grade formamide is supplied distilled and deionized and packaged under nitrogen.
Store at +4oC in the dark. Warm to room temperature prior to opening. When exposed to
oxygen, formamide breaks down into formic acid and ammonia, which can degrade nucleic acid
samples. Bottles that have been opened and stored should be deionized prior to use by
mixing
1 g of mixed bed resin per 10mL formamide for 30 minutes.
Warning
Irritant/Lachrymator/Suspected mutagen. Avoid breathing fumes. Use with adequate
ventilation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. If contact should occur, wash
